V-J day Kiss

I think this is a great photo, because it captured a great emotion in motion.
I heard a rumor that this picture is posed, but, so what?

As a viewer of this photo, it isn't difficult to understand what he wanted to show through this picture.

Joel Peter Witkin

It seems like she has no power.

She seems to be controlled and the fact that her face is being hidden by the mask tell me she can't be herself.

"Revenge of the Goldfish" - Sandy Skoglund

Sandy Skoglund's "Revenge of the Goldfish" is full of orange and blue.

All the furniture in the room is blue and even the room itself is.
In the room full of blue, numbers of goldfish are flying, crawling, fighting, or sleeping.
Two human beings, in the middle of this craziness, seem like they aren't quite aware they are.
They are just peacefully sleeping in this surreal fantasy, as if this is their dream.

Response to the99percent.com

the99percent.com is one unusual website with abundant amount of interesting articles and information, mainly focusing on creative and productive lifestyle.  Soon after exploring this website a bit, one article, "25 Insights on Becoming a Better Writer", caught my attention.  I hesitated to respond to this particular article, simply because I felt more obligated to write so well after reading it, but, I will just go ahead and write it down without fear for being it bad as the article informs me so.

Actually, I just lied.  I already spent too much time writing the first paragraph, because of fear I had.  And now that I am short on time, I will just casually and quickly write my response.

Well, this awesome article really gave me good tips about writing better.  I am sure most people probably already have known many of these tips from their English class or something, but it's always nice to read something like this and remind myself to write better next time, because we always write!

Actually, I won't summerize the article I read like I originally planned on, because, I mean, as I look back(physically), whoa, half of the class is gone.  I need to wrap up.  Plus, no one cares about a summary of tips about writing well.  If you wish to know the tips, you can just read the article: http://the99percent.com/tips/7082/25-Insights-on-Becoming-a-Better-Writer

This website is great.  Oh, except for the fact that I get sick of the words, "creative" or "creativity", when I am on the website.  Those words are overused on their page and being creative should not be that easy.  Regardless, I am definitely interested in reading and watching all these information and videos, and I regret I didn't do this when I had a lot of time over the weekend.

Well, sadly, time to say bye.

Happy Halloween.

Video response

It seems "copyright" is something that cause some headaches to many artists, musicians, writers, or more. It is certainly wrong and illegal to use pictures from online, especially if it is for one's own business purpose, for example, Gap or Virgin Mobile as we learned in class on Monday. I believe that every picture belongs to someone, and no one should neglect the "ownership" of photographs, just becuase they are published online.
However I could understand why some people choose to "steal" pictures from online. It's nearly impossible to have my own images of various things, from a car to sea animals. I personally have made a few posters and such, but it is funny to realize the work I have done is not fully mine, since it consists of many differnet photos from online.

I am not sure how to solve this problem though. We did find some cases that other people stealing images, but I have no idea how I would find someone stealing my images. Some say we all should be careful about uploading pictures, but I don't know what that even means, unless we are talking about uploading naked pictures of oneself here. If pictures are online, anyone can literally steal them. I don't know how "being careful" prevents those photos from getting stolen. I probably will continue posting pictures I want to share, but hopefully, my pictures never get stolen, and furthermore we can find a solution for stealing photos and copyrights.

Scanner Face

I was very amazed to find out that a scanner can do something more than just scanning a piece of paper. It was uberly exciting to scan my own face and see how it came out. Even though the outcome of the photo wasn't quite satisfying, I was ready to explore the world of Adobe Illustrator.
When I saw some of my friends' work from last semester, I thought we had to make our own shapes and color just by observing the photo, but since we learned to use pen tool and eyedropper to make exact shapes and color, the assignment was, thankfully, way easier than expected. However, I had a challenging time making nice, big, solid shapes. My shapes were generally small and RANDOM! Opacity was the solution, though. I could make any shapes and make them transparent as needed, then just layer them. Also, I found that using opacity tool gave the face some more realistic and jelly-ish kind of texture, which I am really fond of.
As I look at the finished work, I find some flaws, but, overall, I am happy with the outcome, and I enjoyed experiencing Adobe Illustrator for the first time.
